Update 3/4/2020: Diversified Communications has announced that it will be postponing Seafood Expo North America until a later date due to COVID-19 fears.
For the second-straight year BuyingSeafood.com will be attending Seafood Expo North America (SENA 2020) in Boston, Massachusetts. Thanks to the great people over at WiseFish for sending me an invitation again this year, I’ll be sure to head over to your booth and give my thanks in person. However one thing I won’t be doing at 2020’s Seafood Expo is shaking anybody’s hand!

As reported in the Boston Herald, there will be a “no-contact, no-handshake” policy at SENA 2020 as a preventative measure against coronavirus. This comes on the heels of news that many of the vendors and visitors from Asia will not be attending. Travel restrictions will make a huge impact on China’s representation, which usually makes up nearly 10% of exhibit space during the three-day event starting March 15th.
So will the Seafood Expo be a ghost town with much of Asia under-represented? Hardly. There are still an estimated 1100 companies attending the event and although I was blown away by China’s presence last year, the vast majority of visitors and vendors are from North America.
I learned the hard way last year that the event is too big for a single day. For the 2020 Boston Seafood Expo I’m going to pace myself and take two days to visit. I’m looking forward to seeing some friends I made last year as well as meeting new friends and checking out new seafood products.
If you plan on attending SENA 2020 in Boston this March, either as a visitor or representing your seafood company, let’s get in touch! Oh, bad choice of words…how about let’s get in contact!
